If you know Rashad, he has a big presence.
He has supreme confidence.
I had the surreal opportunity to work with him for a brief period.
He was super direct, super honest, very very very aggressive. Everything you think he would be… he is exactly like that.
He really pushed me to be excellent at what I do. You gotta “perfect your craft” he would say.
When working with my clients, I’m sure I could get away with doing less, or not going above and beyond…
Honestly, no one would know.
But Rashad taught me to be excellent in EVERY part of my life. Being a great coach isn’t enough. I needed to also be:
• a great father
• a great husband
• a great friend
But how with so many hats?
Don’t change the standard, “perfect your craft.”
That’s stuck with me years later, and it will for the rest of my life. Thank You Rashad.
How did Rashad’s influence impact my training:
When I think about the impact Rashad had on me, it helped me with an aspect of coaching…kinda simple, “perfect your craft.” This approach helped me consistently and constantly learn and develop individual ways to not only train, but push my clients.
There will always be drills and strategies that every athlete can work on that will help them perform better. But to teach them to “perfect their craft” optimizes the way an athlete gets trained. Not every athlete has the same needs.
